David Mellor, B.D.S., M.F.G.D.P.(UK)

David, a native of Newtownabbey, graduated from Queens University Dental School in 1982. He worked in Antrim for five years before purchasing his present practice in 1987. David has worked as a part-time tutor at the School of Dentistry and has also completed a two year clinical attachment in the Orthodontic Dept. of the Mid Ulster Hospital, Magherafelt. In 1992 he was awarded a Diploma in General Dental Practice from the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
Although David provides all forms of dental treatment, he has a particular interest in orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry.

 

Maria Mellor, B.D.S. (QUB)

Maria graduated from Queens University in 1986. She worked in General Practice in Ballymena, the Malone Road and the Antrim Road before opening her own practice in 1990.
In 1997 Maria sold her busy practice in Carrickfergus in order to have more quality time with her two young girls and now works along side David at Mellor Dental Care in Whitehouse.
Maria enjoys all aspects of general dental practice and has attended numerous post graduate courses, especially on the treatment of children and periodontal (gum) disease.

Karen - Joined Mellor Dental Care in 2001 having spent the last five years working as a dental nurse for a surgery in Belfast. Karen's main role as a Mellor Dental Care team member is to assist Maria in her surgery although she also has considerable experience as a Dental Surgery Receptionist and in the operation of our computerised dental practice management system.

Stephanie - Joined Mellor Dental Care in 1995 She passed her National Certificate for Dental Nursing examination in 1998 and her Certificate in Oral Health Education the following year. Stephanie is currently working in our reception area where she acts as our Dental Practice Manager.

Sherrie - Joined Mellor Dental Care in 2001 having spent the past 12 months working in an orthodontic practice in Belfast. Sherrie is currently studying for her National Dental Nursing Certificate by way of evening classes at the Belfast Tech. During the day she works along side David , assisting him with all the various dental procedures undertaken in the surgery. These procedures would include crown, bridge and veneer preparations, orthodontics (tooth straightening),denture construction , minor oral surgery, gum treatments etc.

Lisa - Joined Mellor Dental Care in 1995 and obtained her National Certificate for Dental Nurses in 1996. Since joining our team Lisa has been working along side our young Dental graduates in order that they may benefit from her considerable clinical dental nursing experience. These young Dental Surgeons work in our dental practice under the auspices of the Northern Ireland Vocational Training Scheme for General Practice. Click for more info.
